Gorakhpur, Oct 17 (UNI) Police today recovered an 'ashtadhatu' Lord Buddha idol estimated at Rs five crore in the international market and arrested two persons in Cantonment area here.
On a tip-off, police swooped upon the duo in front of Gorakhpur railway station and seized the idol weighing seven kgs.
The arrested men, identified as Sriprakash alias Pintu Tiwari of Deoria district and Ved Prakash Giri of Gorakhpur, disclosed that they were transporting the idol from Nepal to Delhi and were planning to send it abroad.
A case had been registered.
The duo were being interrogated.
