Local Congress leader among 7 booked for bungling

Fatehgarh Sahib, Oct 17 (UNI) The Amloh police has registered a case against seven persons including Amloh Block Congress Committee president Shingara Singh for allegedly misappropriating around Rs 40 lakh.

According to sources, after being named in the complaint made by some members of the Janata Truck Operators Union, Amloh for the alleged misappropriation of funds, a case was registered under sections 406, 420 and 120 B of IPC against Shingara Singh, Balwinder Singh and Ranjit Singh, all residents of Salana village, Gurmeet Singh of Khanna, Rajinder Singh alias Kaka, Rakesh Kumar alias Gogi and Daljit Singh all residents of Amloh.

The Economic Wing of Fatehgarh Sahib was conducting investigation in the case and no arrests had been made so far.

According to the complaint, during Potato season, the daily income touches rupees 20,000 while normal monthly income was shown as around rupees 30,000. Moreover, one acre land was purchased from union funds but was registered in personal name.

When contacted, Shingara Singh claimed all the charges were result of ''political vendetta''.
