Jamboo Savari Artists threaten protest
Mysore, Oct 17 (UNI) Artists participating in the world famous Jamboo Savari (Elephant Procession) today threatened to stage protest on October 20, a day before the Dasara procession, if they were not treated on par with other artists, including increase in payment.
Speaking to newsmen, renowned Prof Lingadevaraj Halemane said that the arrangements made to them were not satisfactory. The artists have to make their own arrangements for food. Required dress were not provided and were paid a meager Rs 100 per day.
If the authorities fail to respond positively there was no other alternative left but to stage protest, he added.
