Infiltration bid foiled, one killed, ultra nabbed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Oct 17 (UNI) Security forces foiled an infiltration bid and arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.
He said troops noticed some suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC) at Lashdat Gulab post in Kupwara district last night.
When challenged, the militants fired heavily on the troops, resulting in a gun-battle in which a soldier sustained injuries.
Alert troops thus managed to foil the infiltration bid as militants flew back to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), he said.
Security forces later launched a search operation in the area.
The spokesman said police recovered the body of a 58-year-old woman, Taja Begum, a resident of Padsoo in Pulwama district today.
Police arrested a Jaish over ground worker, Abdul Majid Chowhan, from Dardapora Lolab in frontier district of Kupwara today. Two AK magazines, 20 AK rounds and one UBGL shell were seized from his possession, the spokesman added.
