Hyderabad, Oct 17 (UNI) India lost 27-32 in a group match against Greece to crash out of the handball competition of the 4th Military World Games here today.
Needing to win the tie to stay in contention for a semi-final berth from Group A, the hosts put up an equal fight for most part of the encounter but failed to match the shooting prowess of their opponents.
That made the difference for the Indians, as their several raids in the rival defence failed to convert into goals to the disappointment of home supporters at Saroornagar stadium while physically superior Greeks made use of most of the chances from inside the Indian shooting circle.
With their second loss in three games and only one match remaining -- that too against strong Lithuania -- India are out of the competition. South Korea and Lithuania have already registered two wins from as many matches and only two teams from the five-team group will make it to the semi-finals.
In the other Group A match, South Korea play Lithuania today.
