Dubai, Oct 17 (UNI) In order to control the country's labour market the UAE's Ministry of Labour has made it mandatory for the new employment seekers to submit qualification certificates even if they are in professions based on expertise.
More than 100,00 degrees obtained from educational institutions from India, Egypt,the Philippines, Pakistan and the UK had been verified so far, Khalaej Times reported.
Labour Minister Ali bin Abudullah AL Kaabi said professionals occupying administrative positions in the country had been exempted from submitting such a certificate but were required to present a certificate of experience.
''The UAE welcomes innovative professionals and experts regardlegs of their sources of origin, but will not be lenient in unearthing unqualified and untrustworthy people,'' he emphasised.
He explained that the process of verifying qualifications would be expanded to include applicants for renewal of labour cards.
He indicated that the ministry had earlier launched a system for multi-layered degree attestation and verification to root out the menace of fake degrees.
The upating and upgrading of the verification software developed by integra screen was being used to maintain the quality of workforce in light of the increasing population and steady growth of domestic economy he noted.
