New Delhi, Oct 17 (UNI) Delhi BJP Pradesh President Harshvardhan today demanded that the Government appoint drivers for all the blueline buses and run the service under kilometre scheme till alternative arrangements to replace the buses are made.

''The Government will be able to prevent accidents by the blueline buses only after that,'' he said.

Dr Harshvardhan said at present 850 DTC drivers are without work.

''They are being paid salary while they are sitting in their homes.

If the Government deputes them for the blueline buses then the accidents could be prevented,'' he added.

He said buses on which Government drivers are appointed should be under the supervision of DTC officers.

''Only the conductors on these buses should be employees of the operators. This experiment could be done till the Delhi Government does not provide alternative for these buses,'' he added.

The Delhi BJP president said ''terror'' of blueline buses continued despite efforts of the Government to rein them in.
