Dalit couple assaulted for refusing to convert to Christianity

Jalaun, Oct 17 (UNI) A dalit couple was allegedly beaten up by a pastor and his aide for refusing to convert to Christianity here today.

The aggrieved couple has submitted a written complaint with the Kotwali police and demanded an FIR be lodged against the guilty.

They have also demanded a security cover.

Devendra Ahirwar and his wife Sunita of Shantinagar locality in Orai city here alleged that for the last six months they had been attending prayer sessions in a Christian school on promise of jobs.

When they did not get the job, the couple complained to the pastor, Daniel.

According to the complainants, Daniel asked them to convert to Christianity, if they wanted to get the promised job.

However, the poor couple refused to convert and stopped attending the prayer sessions.

Angered over the development, Daniel and an evangelist Roshan went to the couple's house and allegedly assaulted them, besides hurling expletives.

Meanwhile, police had admitted the woman in the district hospital.

Investigations were on.
