Islamabad, Oct 17: The caretaker government would be put in place on November 15 in Pakistan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani said.
Addressing mediapersons last evening, the minister said consultations were on with all the political parties to take them into confidence to bring in undisputed people in the new setup.
He further said that caretaker Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of all the four provinces would be appointed, while the sitting provincial governors would continue with their positions, the media reported.
He said the holding of free and fair general elections would be the biggest challenge for President Pervez Musharraf and the caretaker government. He said the government would come down heavily on any quarter which tries to obstruct the smooth conduct of general elections. He also urged the opposition parties to actively take part in the elections.
