Ahmedabad, Oct 17 (UNI) Rubbishing Union Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal's remark against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, state BJP spokesperson Vijay Rupani today said such a statement depicted the Congress' perverted psyche.
''Congress can not cite a single example where our government has gone against the constitution. Various ministries of the Centre and the Planning Commission have praised Mr Modi for his excellence in governance,'' Mr Rupani told newspersons here in reply to Mr Sibal's alleged statement yesterday in Vadodara.
Mr Sibal had stated that Mr Modi did not possess the knowledge of the constitution.
''If Mr Modi had gone against the constitution, why is the Congress, which is in power at the Centre, hesitant to take any step against him?'' asked Mr Rupani.
''The figures produced by Mr Sibal about the development in education sector in Gujarat were quite misleading. There were only seven universities till 2001 since the formation of Gujarat.
Mr Modi, in his six years of tenure, has founded seven more new universities,'' he said.
''There were 102 technical institutes with 13,779 seats in Gujarat till 2001. During the six years tenure of Mr Modi, 339 more technical institutes have been set up with 52,838 seats.
Moreover, our government has started technical education improvement programme with the participation of World Bank at the cost of Rs 55 crore,'' the BJP leader said.
''Our government has set up industrial training institutes in every talukas and 88 new schools with science stream. Apart from that, we have successfully drawn the industrial investment worth Rs 8.50 lakh, which has created more than 25 lakh employment opportunities,'' he added.
