Ahmedabad, Oct 17 (UNI) The BJP's list of candidates for the forthcoming Gujarat Assembly Polls would be sent to the Central Leadership for its final approval in the first-week of November, state BJP General Secretary Vijay Roopani said here today.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Roopani said, ''The Party has already drawn up its line of action for selecting the candidates purely on the basis of their winning capacity to ensure that the Party retains power in the state.'' Mr Roopani said the Party has formed 21 teams of Observers, each team consisting of three senior leaders, including a woman member, to prepare a list of probable candidates. This list would be put before the Gujarat BJP Parlimentary Board Committee (PBC), headed by State President Purshottam Rupala, to make the final list of probables.
These 21 teams of Observers would visit each district of the state between October 24 to 28 to have detailed discussions with the local leaders at district level to judge the winning strength of each candidate, Mr Roopani said.
These observers teams' would submit their findings on each candidates before the PBC. After a detailed study on weaknesses and strengths of each probable candidate, the PBC would draw up the final list of 182 candidates. It would be sent to the Central Leaders in first week of November for its final approval, he added.
The elections are to be held in two phases on December 11 and 16.
The BJP leader said the Party had not yet decided on selection of 33 per cent women candidates as a policy matter, but would definitely think to give ticket to those women candidates, who have a winning chance.
