Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Junior Teachers Federation will take out a massive rally and organise a thanks-giving function for Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for bringing the 54,000 Junior teachers in the time-scale of pay from consolidated pay.
The rally and the function would be held on October 21, Federation President K Thiagarajan said in a statement here today.
He said about 60,000 teachers and their family memebrs would participate in the rally from Munroe Statue to Swami Sivananda Salai near Doordarshan Kendra and it would be flagged off by School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu.
The function would be presided over by Mr Karunanidhi and Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy and Mr Thennarasu would deliver the special address.
Mr Thiagarajan said the 54,000-odd Junior teachers were appointed on consolidated pay in April 2004 and Mr Karunanidhi, soon after assuming office, had placed them in time-scale pay in June last year.
