Chennai, Oct 16 (UNI) A day after the students ransacked the Principal's room, the Presidency College was closed indefinitely from today.
Scores of students who arrived in the morning at the college, went back after knowing of the closure.
A board was put up by the college administration with the information that the institute would remain closed indefinitely.
Yesterday, a group of students assembled before the Principal's room and demanded his intervention to secure the release of two students, who were arrested by police in connection with a clash with their counterparts of other college.
As the principal said nothing could be done as police had acted as per law, the students gave vent to their ire and ransacked his room. They also indulged in stone throwing following which police rushed to the spot and resorted to a mild lathi charge.
