Parliament Privileges Committees to summon Ronen Sen
New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) India's Ambassador to the US Ronen Sen will be summoned by the Privileges Committees of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha for his controversial ''headless chicken'' remark against the opponents of the Indo-US nuclear deal.
A meeting, presided over by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan, yesterday decided to refer the matter to the Privileges Committees of both houses of Parliament.
Sources said it was unanimously decided to refer the issue to the Privileges Committees and follow the established procedure.
However, no date had been fixed for summoning Mr Sen who has already tendered an unconditional apology for the controversial comment.
Former Union Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Yashwant Sinha had complained against Mr Sen on the matter.
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had already taken the decision to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee.
While the Lok Sabha is expected to meet by the end of this month, the Rajya Sabha panel will meet in the first week of November, the sources added.
