Militant group to stop collecting taxes

Imphal, Oct 16 (UNI) The People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) will stop collection of taxes from the public from October 9 next year.

A statement issued by Chinglemba Mangang of PREPAK said the party would also stop doing contract works and deducting shares from the earning of government employees. It would however, continue to take voluntary donation, but not more than Rs 15,000 annually.

The PREPAK, which was a more than 30-years-old organisation, was also imbroiled in an internal crisis and by 2015 it will launch an intensive struggle to achieve the goal of right to self determination and if the goal was not achieved it will stop all its activities, the statement added.

It also announced that instead of executing people, it would resort to talks.
