Jammu, Oct 16 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has taken serious note of no action on the part of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for stopping illegal constructions in the city and surrounding areas.

Justice Nirmal Singh, while hearing a petition, said if the municipal authorities are really interested in stopping illegal constructions, the staff concerned should take immediate action against the errant people.

Justice Singh took serious note of the double standard being adopted by the civic body.

He said on the one hand the municipal authorities are not taking any decision on the applications of law-abiding citizens within the statutory period and on the other hand no action is being taken against those raising unauthorised constructions.
