Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) Mumbai will get a chance to see a range of contemporary Italian furniture designs at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from October 18-24.
Organized by the Italian Trade Commission with the Federlegno-Arredo and the Confindustria, the ''Goal!'' week-long exhibition will showcase designs of more than 50 firms from Italy and around the world.
Speaking at the pre-launch conference, Antonella Lanari, International Promotion Manager, Federlegno-Arredo said, ''We've been looking at India since 2000-01 ... We have a fondness for the country and the people and believe we can work together in a positive way.'' ''It will be an opportunity for young Italian designers to show their talents,'' added Erica Di Giovancarlo, Italian Trade Commissioner.
Italy is a powerhouse in the world of design and style including furniture where it was until recently, overtaken by China as the top global exporter.
The Indian furniture industry is estimated at Rs 3,500 crore with the country importing USD 152 million worth of furniture from Italy during the last fiscal.
