Mumbai, Oct 16 (UNI) ''I am not negative , it is just that Indian designers are a diamond in the rough and they should know what they are up against in terms of competing with designers in UK,'' said Albert Morris a buyer at the ongoing Lakme fashion Week which is underway at the NCPA here in Mumbai.
Speaking to newspersons today, Mr Morris, who owns two stores Browns and Focus said, ''This year fashionable people from Europe, New York, Milan and Paris had a very strong season. The Indian designers should know what they are up against. Yes I do plan to buy this season but I cannot reveal what.'' Though he was all praises for designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and added that Sabyasachi executes a perfect garment and the price points and quality are comparable to European standards.
''However, there are a few drawbacks where some designers need to work like in silhouettes many are turning out to be look-alikes of each other,'' he said.
Mr Morris also felt that the quality of garments was still not there and added that designers should look out for new ideas like techno fabrics and use it well.
However, he felt that some of the other talented designers are Rahul&Firdos who have made clothes without the seams. They are intellectual designers while Anupama Dayal, Nachiket Barve and Nitin Bal Chauhan are consistent.
