Kochi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the state government to file within ten days a progress report on the repair and maintenance of roads in the state.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice K T Sankaran also issued notice to the Kochi Corporation and directed the petitioner to implead the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) also as a party.

The bench issued the direction while hearing a public interest petition filed by State Human Rights Protection Council General Secretary Joy from Thrissur.

The petitioner had sought a direction to the government to repair the largely potholed and unmotorable roads in the state.

Additional Advocate General Venganoor Chandrasekharan today submitted that the works would be completed within two weeks.

Earlier, the government had submitted in the court that it would finish the repair work before October 15, but the work had not been completed, he said.
