Dy SP sentenced

Damoh, MP, Oct 16 (UNI) The District and Sessions Court today awarded two years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,500 to a deputy superintendent of police caught red-handed by Lokayukt Police in 2003 while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a private doctor.

Additional District and Sessions Judge and Special Judge (Lokayukt) Radha Sonkar sentenced Deputy SP (Scheduled Castes and Tribes) Rajkumar Jaiswal for accepting the bribe from Dr Pitambar Budhwani who had earlier alerted the authorities.

The police officer had demanded Rs 1 lakh to save the physician in a fabricated case.
