Dunlop exceeds commitment, inducts 1202 old hands
Kolkata, Oct 16 (UNI) Dunlop India Limited has inducted 1202 workmen as permanent employees in its Sahaganj unit out of those who were on the Company's rolls when the erstwhile management closed the plant.
The new management in its agreement with the trade unions had committed to intake 1179 workmen.
However, considering the immediate plans for the Sahaganj unit, the management had decided to increase the number to 1238 after completing absorption of the agreed 1179.
Taking casual workers into account, Sahaganj plant was now providing livelihood to over 1600 workers.
The Sahaganj plant had started operations seven days a week from last October 14.

Chairman

Dunlop
India
Ltd,
said,
" We'd
like
to
see
Dunlop
operating
24
hours
a
day
and
7
days
a
week.
This
is
a
step
toward
making
the
Sahaganj
unit
a
post-effective,
high
quality
manufacturer
of
tyres
and
industrial
products.
Very
soon
Sahaganj
will
surpass
the
plant's
previous
records
in
production
and
productivity.
