Chinnappa, Yashoda take honours in 'Dasara half marathon'

Mysore, Oct 16 (UNI) A Chinnappa of Kodagu and Yashoda of Mudabidri took the top honours in the men and women sections respectively, in the half marathon organised as part of the Mysore Dasara festivities here today.

Chinnappa finished the 21km race in 1:09.00 hrs. Siddappa of Dharwad finished second and Shivananda of Bangalore took third place.

In the women's section Mahadevi of Dharwad and Jyothi Kavalekar of Belgaum followed the winner to won the first and second spots.

In all, 600 sprinters took part in the event.

Meanwhile, Anand of Dharwad claimed the 'Dasara Kanteerva' title in the wrestling championships held at Devaraj Urs multipurpose stadium.

Sachin Padatere of Belgaum won the 'Dasara Kesari' title while Sagarappa S Hangoli won the 'Dasara Kumar'. Venkatesh Patil of Dharwad claimed the 'Dasara Kishore' in a competition of over 600 wrestlers.

Manjunath of Bangalore was chosen as the 'Dasara Sri 2007' in the 'best physique competitions' held at Chamundi Vihar Sports complex.
