Chinnappa and Yashoda take top honours in Dasara half marathon

Mysore, Oct 16 (UNI) A Chinnappa of Kodagu and Yashoda of Mudabidri took the top honours in the half marathon in the men and women sections respectively, organised as part of the Mysore Dasara festivities here today.

Chinnappa finished the 21km race in 1:09.00 hrs. Siddappa of Dharwad finished second and Shivananda of Bangalore took third place.

In the women's section Mahadevi of Dharwad and Jyothi Kavalekar of Belgaum followed the winner to won the minor spots.

In all, six hundred sprinters took part in the event race Meanwhile, Aanand of Dharwad claimed the Dasara Kanteerva in the wrestling championships held at Devaraj Urs multipurpose stadium.

Sachin Padatere of Belgaum won the Dasara Kesari title while Sagarappa S Hangoli won the Dasara Kumar title. Venkatesh Patil of Dharwad claimed the Dasara Kishore title in competition which saw over 600 wrestlers vying for top honours.

Manjunath of Bangalore was chosen as the 'Dasara Sri 2007' in the best physique competitions held at Chamundi Vihar Sports complex.
