Children from naxal victim families awarded scholarships

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 16 (UNI) Children from the families of naxals victim were awarded scholarships today at a function organised here at the police headquarters.

Thirty three students from 17 families received their first phase scholarships from the Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra for the current academic year.

Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) sanctioned the scholarships to support the students, who hail from the affected families of terrorism and extremism. Scholarships would be given to them till they attain the age of 18 years or after the completion of their plus-two course with marks as per RGF norms.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Soumya after presenting cheques for Rs five lakh as compensation to the families of victims said a 'Victims Assistance Cell' would be set up to assist them and their children.
