New Delhi, Oct 16 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today warned news channels against showing video clips of matches lasting more than two minutes, citing infringement of its media rights.
In a press release issued by BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, the board asked channels to adhere to international norms by airing a maximum of 2 minutes of clips, with each clip lasting no longer than 30 seconds. Also, each clip could be shown a maximum of two times.
The release said the news channels were showing match clips of around 150 to 200 minutes, with a bulk of the clips shown even when the match was on.
The release also stated that for the Twenty20 match scheduled for October 20, SNTV will be the exclusive licensee for all BCCI news syndication globally. All channels and news organisations will have to sign contracts with SNTV and any violation would be liable for punitive action.
