30 kg class girls suspended for 7 days for applying 'Mehendi'
Pune, Oct 16 (UNI) Thirty girls, studying in a kindergarten classes of the 118-year-old Dastur High School here, were suspended for seven days for applying 'Mehendi' on their palms, It was clarified on behalf of the Principal of the school that the action should not be misintepreted as 'punishment' as it was part of the school discipline.
Enraged parents and guardians alleged that the minority community had been targetted.
However, the suspension was later withdrawn on orders of the trustee of the school but the Principal was unavailable for comment.
Meanwhile, sources said state education Minister Vasant Pulke had hinted that the matter was being looked into.
