Mumbai, Oct 14 (UNI) Winner of the Bharat Yuv Ratna award along with the Bharat Vikas award for designing women's wear, Pria Kataria Puri today showcased her collection 'Kashmir ki kali' at the second day of the LFW, which is underway at the National Centre for Perfoming Arts (NCPA) here.
Speaking to reporters, she said ''Elegance does not mean being noticed, it means being remembered. Her collection is inspired by the beauty and heritage of Kashmir. Being of Kashmiri origin and having a great appreciation for the various exotic elements of the land, has not only inspired her to design creations but also adopt a platform to advocate betterment of the situation in Kashmir today.'' From Kashmiri tilla work in 18 carat antique gold to silver in paisley motives and colorful resham in silk, wool and cotton thread in floral patterns create a garden of paradise on the ensembles, she said.
These embroideries have been sourced by the Kashmiri 'karigars' (artisans), who have passed the art of fine craftsmanship for centuries to their kin, she informed.
She said delicate pieces of metallic jewellery were added as accessories to enhance the silhouette in the form of belts. A fusion of fashion comes together with churidar pants and coordinated them with tunics and jackets.
