Jammu, Oct 15 (UNI) Expressing concern over increasing corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) today said all the efforts of the state government had fallen flat to cope with the menace.

The party said if the trend continues, ''the day is not far when the state will be at No 1 position''.

''The clam of the present dispensation headed by Ghulam Nabi Azad to weed out corruption from the state stands nowhere,'' NC provincial president Ajay Sadhotra said while addressing a public gathering.

He called upon the people to rise to the occasion, and weed out the present dispensation ''who is only giving bad name to the state.'' ''The so called claim and paper efforts made are falling flat on ground and with all these claims the state of the J and K stands at No 2 position in corruption in the country, is a matter of shame for us.

''And if things keep going like this, the day is not far when the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be at No 1 position in corruption,'' he said, asserting, the time is not far when the present regime would fall on its own weight of corruption, mis-governance, callousness and in-humane treatment to the people.
