Heavy rainfall predicted over Gangetic Bengal

Kolkata, Oct 15 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to occur over parts of Gangetic Bengal with moderate rainfall over the sub-Himalayan Bengal in the next 24 hours.

Alipore Met offficials said that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over North West Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over the North Bay of Bengal and the adjoining West Bengal.

Light to moderate rainfall has already occurred in the Gangetic West Bengal with traces recorded in the sub-Himalayan parts of the state.

Maximum temperature was recorded at 34.3 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal, and the minimum temperature at 25.0 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.

Maximum relative humidity in the city was recorded at 94 per cent.

Rainfall recorded in the past 24 hours was pegged at 4.4 mm.

Rain or thundershower is likely to occur in most parts of Gangetic West Bengal and many places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal in thr next 48 hours.
