HC reserves judgement in Khalra case

Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana high court today reserved judgement on the plea to enhance the sentence awarded to the accused by trial court of Special CBI Judge, Patiala for custodial killing of human right activist Jaswant Singh Khalra of Amritsar in 1995.

The plea came up for hearing before the division bench of Justice M S Gill and Justice A N Jindal.

The petition for this has been filed by Paramjit Kaur, wife of the deceased seeking death sentence to DSP Jaspal Singh who was given life imprisonment. The petition also sought life imprisonment for other police officials---accused Satnam Singh, Prithipal Singh, Jasbir Singh and Surinder Pal Singh, all of whom were given seven years rigorous imprisonment.
