Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to celebrate the United Nations Day on October 24 in a ''befitting manner'' in the state.
A circular in this regard issued by the Chief Secretary directed all Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Commissioner, Higher Education, Director, Secondary and Primary Education to organise functions on this occasion in their respective areas.
The circular said as far as possible joint programmes should be organised by government and non-government organisations. The United Nations flag should also be unfurled with the national flag at district headquarters, it said.
Also, various programmes such as social gatherings, seminars, essay, painting and debate competitions should be organised to apprise the people about the aim and works of the United Nations Organisation (UNO) so as to enable them to know about its 'World Peace Mission'.
