Cowherd murdered in Junagadh

Junagadh, Oct 15 (UNI) A cowherd was stabbed to death by a man at Virpur village in Talala-Gir tehsil, about 75 km from here, today over an illicit affair.

The herdsman, Koli Meram Visa alias Mera (40), was grazing his cows near the border villages of Dhhava and Borva this morning.

Suddenly a man came from behind and allegedly stabbed Meram several times with a knife. As he fell down, a woman, Labhuben Vira Koli (30), who was collecting firewood nearby saw a man running, whom she identified as Bhagwan Rama Koli.

Hearing Labhuben's shrieks, people came rushing and shifted the seriously injured Meram to Talala hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead.

Talala police said the motive behind the murder could be that Meram was having an illicit affair with Labhuben, to which Bhagwan strongly resented. Labhuben is said to be related to Bhagwan's elder brother. All the three belonged to Virpur village.

Police have registered an FIR under sections 302 and 307 of IPC.
