Ludhiana, Oct 15 (UNI) Describing the bomb blast at the Shingar cinema as a 'deep rooted conspiracy' All India Anti Terrorist Front, Chairman Maninderjit Singh Bitta claimed that the dastardly crime could have been ''committed at the instance of those not in power in Punjab''.
'' Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and former state DGP S S Virk should be questioned about the incident'', he said, while talking to mediapersons after visiting the blast site and the injured in the hospitals here today.
'' Capt Singh and Mr Virk, who are facing corruption charges could not take the loss in the last assembly elections'', he claimed.
Undercover operatives or 'police acts' who operated during the phase of militancy in Punjab could have been utilised for committing the crime, he said while pointing to the reported statement of Mr Virk last year that about 300 such operatives who worked for the Punjab Police had been rehabiltated by the state government.
Refering to the recovery of RDX just prior to the assembly polls last year from a confidant of former Akal Takht Jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode, Mr Bitta said a thorough probe was never conducted into the case. The RDX had been brought to the state to target Mr Parkash Singh Badal, who was then the leader of the opposition and was expected to win the elections a well known to Capt Singh and Virk, he claimed.
'' This is not a wild allegation, it needs to be probed'', he added.
