New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) today said it has joined hands with Godrej Aadhaar, an agri-service cum retail initiative of Godrej Agrovet Ltd.
As per the agreement, both the companies will extend their association by launching Aadhaar Express in BPCL petro-outlets situated in semi-urban and rural areas.
The first Aadhaar Express at the BPCL outlet in Ahmednagar district was inaugurated recently.
The store, spread over an area of 500 sq feet, offers agri-advisory services and customised products for the rural consumer and is one of the first stores in this format in rural India. It provides agricultural implements, pesticides and herbicides apart from FMCG, grocery and apparels.
Agronomists will be present at the store to provide free consultancy service to the farmers on crop related issues and assist them in improving farm-productivity.
This format will expand its presence across the country through several other BPCL outlets. This initiative by BPCL is aimed at exploring the huge potential of the rural market by adopting an innovative approach which will benefit the customers.
Godrej Aadhaar is one of the pioneers in the agri and rural retail category with a total of 48 outlets.
''Both companies believe in the immense opportunity available in rural India which will be tapped through this alliance. We plan to extend this alliance across the country with launching many more such AadhaarExpress outlets,'' Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd Executive Director (Retail) S Ramesh said.
