Axis bank clocks a net profit of Rs 402.60 crore

Mumbai, OCT 15 (UNI) Axis Bank has posted a net profit of Rs 402.60 crore as compared to Rs 262.53 crore during the first half year of the current fiscal.

The bank registered a 73 per cent 'year on year' growth in its quarter two in its net interest income of Rs 588.67 crore as against Rs 340.51 crore in quarter two of the preceding year.

The net interest margin for quarter two increased to 3.28 percent from 2.72 per cent in the previous quarter.

The bank reported a trading profit of of Rs 102.49 crore in quarter two of the current financial year as compard to Rs 23.33 crore in quarter two last year, a growth of 339 per cent year on year.

The bank's retail business continued to show strong growth. The number of savings bank account grew from 40.15 lakhs to 54.24 lakhs by the end of September this year.

The net worth of the bank stood at Rs 8108 crore by the end of September as compared to Rs 3108 crore a year earlier.
