4 Indians move to second round in Bellary Open ITF

Bellary, Karnataka, Oct 15 (UNI) Rupesh Roy led the four Indians who moved into the singles second round in the 15,000 Dollar Bellary Open ITF Futures, which got underway at the Police Gymkhana Courts here today.

Wild Card entrant and unranked Rupesh Roy rallied well after losing the second set to beat qualifier Roel Oostdam of Netherlands 7-5, 3-6 and 6-3.

The other Indians who made it to the second round included Vijayant Malik, Purav Raja and Vivek Shokeen who won against their compatriots.

In the Doubles, Wild Card entrants Kaushik Raju/Rohan Gide lost to top seed Craciun Teodor/Adrian Gavrila of Romania before going down 10-5 in the match tie break.

The lone upset of the day was when unseeded Vijay Sunder/Ranjit Virali fought back to beat fourth seeds Sunil Kumar Sipaeya/Purav Raja 11-9 in match tie break after losing the first set.

Following were the results: Singles (I round): Vivek Shokeen bt Arjun Gautam 6-3, 6-3; Vijaiant Malik bt Vignesh Chandrasekhar 6-0, 7-5; Rupesh Roy bt Roel Oostdam (Net) 7-5, 3-6, 6-3; Purav Raja bt Rahil Makharia 7-5, 6-1.
