Play suspended after rain hits Bangkok Open final

By Staff

BANGKOK, Oct 14 (Reuters) Rain caused play to be suspended in the final of the Bangkok Open today with Italian Flavia Pennetta leading Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan by one set.

Seventh seed Pennetta stamped her authority on the match from the outset, breaking Chan in the first game before racing through the first set 6-1 with a string of precise but powerful forehands.

The match was halted at 15-15 in the first game of the second set with play expected to resume at 1730 ITS.
