Over 2500 to participate in three-day Dasara Sports

Mysore, Oct 14 (UNI) Over 2500 sports persons, from all over Karnataka, will be vieing for top honour in the Dasara State level Sports meet beginning here tomorrow organised on the eve of the Dasara festivities.

Addressing the media persons here, Youth and Sports Commissioner Amarkumar Pande said that as many as 24 events for both boys and girls would be held in athletics and indoor games at Chamundivihar sports stadium, while other events like Football, Hockey, Tennis, Balbadminton and Swimming would be held at University grounds.

Events like Weight Lifting and Power Lifting, besides best Physic competitions have been added to this events.

Half Marathon would also be held for both men, women, boys and girls on October 16 and more than 1000 competitors are expected to participate in it. 21.1 km for the men and women, 12 KM race for college girls six km races for high school boys and girls.

A cycle race from Bangalore to Mysore for Men, while Ramanagaram to Mysore for women would also be held.

He also said that the committee also decided to increase the award amount to the 'Kreeda Rathna' for record breaking performance sports persons during the three-day Meet has been increased to Rs 5000 from this year.

World Billiards champion Chitra Magimiraj will declare open the Meet tomorrow.
