Nagpur, Oct 14 (UNI) Agrovision 2007, a four-day National Expo, conference and symposium on agriculture, begins here from tomorrow.
The event would consist of an exhibition, workshops, a conference on agri-marketing and a symposium on bio-fuel, Vilas Kale, President, Vidarbha Economic Development Council (VED), said.
The workshops were aimed at guiding farmers on additional activities like cultivation of bamboo, neem, orange, medicinal plants, soya and oilseeds besides organic farming, fisheries, poultry, goat farming and village industries, which they could adopt for an alternative sources of income for alleviation of poverty, he said.
The agri-marketing conference would feature discussions and presentations on agricultural marketing reforms, direct marketing and contract farming, private agriculture market, marketing infrastructure, supply chain and logistics, banking, finance, and other marketing services, Mr Kale said.
The expo was being held to help the distressed farmer in Vidarbha to harness the potential in the region's economy and thereby improve his economic condition, he added.
''Union Minister of State for Non-Conventional Energy Sources Vilas Muttemwar is scheduled to inaugurate the expo tomorrow afternoon, the VED President said. The event is being supported by the Department of Agriculture of the government of Maharashtra,'' he added.
