Mysore, Oct 14 (UNI) Former Minister and senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader G T Deve Gowda today advised religious mutts to keep politicians at bay as they spoil the sanctity of the mutts.

Talking to newspersons here, he said it was just an illusion that a religious mutt could play a role in the formation of a government.

No party should feel that their victory was because of a community as the support of all religions and communities was needed to win seats. It was also improper to say that a particular community was upset over BJP leader B S Yediyurappa not getting the Chief Minister's post, he remarked.

Mr Gowda claimed that all the JD(S) Legislators had exerted pressure on the party high command and senior leaders to continue the alliance with the BJP for another 20 months. ''But, no one was aware about what happened between the higher ups of the two parties and both the parties share responsibility for the status quo.'' The only solution to the issue was going to the polls, he said, predicting a total rout for the Congress at the hustings.
