Chandigarh, Oct 14 (UNI) Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai today offered prayers at Jama Masjid in Sector 20 here, on the auspicious occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
Speaking on the occasion he congratulated the people and asked them to work for the welfare of the society and the country. He said that the country cannot keep pace with the speedy progress taking place in the world without providing quality education to the people.He stated that unity and amity among differnt religions was essential for the prosperity of the country.
There was a festive like atmosphere in the Raj Bhawan where people from all walks of life and employees of Raj Bhawan offered greetings to the Governor and his family members. The Governor himself offered sweets and fruits to all those who called on him.
Chief Secretary, Mrs Pronmilla Issar, greeted the Governor and offered a bouquet on behalf of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who is away on a foreign tour.
Rigyal Rinpoche of the Drinkung Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism also visited the Raj Bhawan and greeted Dr Kidwai on this auspicious occasion.
Among others who greeted the Governor included Director General of Police Ranjiv Dalal, Director PGI K K Talwar and his wife, Vice- Chancellor of Panjab University R C Sobti and a number of others.
