Haryana finance ministers says 20,000 provided jobs

Karnal, Oct 14 (UNI) Haryana Finance and Excise and Taxation Minister Birender Singh today informed that during the last two and a half year as many as 20,000 people had been provided job opportunities and as planned in the next two to three years it would increase to over one lakh.

The Finance Minister was speaking during the 'Meet the Press' programme organized by the Haryana Journalist Association here.

He also informed that the Minimum Wage of labourers had been enhanced to Rs 3400 and Rs 3510 under the new Labour Policy.

Refering to the development activities in the state, he said that Haryana was passing through a phase pf prosperity. The state was at number one position in the country in per capita income and the growth rate of the state was one and a half percent more as compared to the nation's growth rate.

He said that he was in favour of setting up SEZs. However the farmers should be given due compensation for the land acquired for SEZs, he added.

The Finance Minister announced to grant a financial assistance of Rs two lakh from the discretionary fund to the family of Mr Jaikumar, a journalist who died in an accident.
