Haryana Finance minister says 20,000 already employed

Karnal, Oct 14 (UNI) Haryana Finance and Excise and Taxation Minister Birender Singh today informed that during the last two and a half years, 20,000 people have been provided employment, assuring, it would increase to over one lakh in the next two to three years.

In a programme 'Meet the Press', organised by the Haryana Journalist Association here, Mr Singh informed that the Minimum Wage of labourers has been enhanced to Rs 3,400 and Rs 3,510 under the new Labour Policy.

Refering to the development activities in the state, he said Haryana has been passing through a phase of prosperity. It was at the top position in the country in per capita income and the growth rate was one and a half per cent more as compared to the overall nation's growth rate.

He added that although he was in favour of setting up SEZs, however, the farmers should also be given due compensation for the land acquired for the same.

Mr Singh also announced to grant financial assistance of Rs two lakh to the family of Mr Jaikumar, a journalist who died in an accident, from the discretionary fund.
