Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) The fourth CISM Military World Games 2007, one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas will begin here tomorrow with 6000 athletes from 103 countries vying for honours in 15 discplines.
President Pratibha Patil would inaugurate the eight-day sporting event with a colourful opening ceremony at the GMC Balayogi Athletics stadium at Gachibowli near here.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, CISM President Brigadier Gianni Gola, CISM Secretary General Col Van Muers, Chiefs of several national armies, including hosts India, would be the guests of honour.
The 6,000 athletes from the 103 countries and five observer nations would take part in a colourful march past which will be followed by cultural events representing India's, especially Andhra Pradesh's, rich cultural heritage like 'Tapptagullu', Dhimsa dance, 'Veera Natyam', 'Lambada', 'Gussadi' Dance and 'Puliveshalu'.
''BRAVO'', the Games mascot will descend on the venue from the sky-diving team of 'Akash Ganga' and lead the march past. Athens Olympics Silver Medalist shooter Rajyavardhan Rathod would light the lamp though he would not participate in the Games as shooting has not been included among the disciplines.
Germany's contingent consisting of 207 members rpt Germany's contingent consisting of 207 members, is the biggest followed by China 200, India with 196 and the US with 190 competitors. This would be the biggest Military Games in terms of participation, with the 6,000 athletes competing for 1,076 medals.
Five countries - Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives - had sent only observers as their armies do not have sportspersons.
