BJP ready to face Lok Sabha polls in 2008: Venkaiah
Visakhapatnam, Oct 14 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said the party is prepared to face the mid-termpar poll if it is held in 2008, as the BJP is the only alternative for the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the BJP was confident of regaining power within a year. The people want stability and it would be the main plank of the party, he added.
Mr Naidu said BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDP) had provided a stable Government at the Centre in alliance with 23 parties.
He demanded that the Centre increases support price for paddy similar to the increase of Rs 1,000 for wheat. If the Government failed to do adequate justice, the party would take up issue at the Centre, he added.
The BJP leader said a party meeting would be conuened on October 17 in New Delhi to decide the modalities for the agitations throughout the country.
