Abducted NTPC engineer along 2 others released after a week

Ranchi, Oct 14 (UNI) All the three persons, including National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) engineer, abducted on October six from Lalmatia village in Jharkhand's Godda district returned safely after a week today.

Inspector General of Santhal Pargana area, H K Mishra told UNI over phone from Godda that the NTPC engineer Divyajyoti Acharaya and two others Subrato Dam and Motiul Ansari were released by the abductors.

Acting on a tip off, police conducted massive combing operations in the dense hilly areas of Lalmatia following which the abductors were released at about 0400 hours.

Mr Mishra added four persons had been detained in this connection and were being interrogated.

''We suspect a local gang behind the incident,'' the IG claimed.

Earlier, on October 12 a delegation of engineers working at Eastern Coal Field's (ECL) Lalmatia mines had urged to provide adequate security at their workplace.
