Udhampur Air Force celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Jammu, Oct 13 (UNI) As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Air Force, Udhampur Air Force station today organised a cross country event titled 'Run for Fun'.

A total of 400 people participated in the event including all service personnel, women and children above 10 years.

Mrs Narmada Babu, president, Air Force Wives Welfare Association (l), inaugurated the event.

Station commander, Group Captain G Amar Babu, VM, led the run, the defence spokesperson said in a release.

Air force conducted various events to mark the celebrations of the Indian Air Force Platinum Jubilee Anniversary over a one year period, the release added.

A bicycle expedition team of this station, under the aegis of WAC, was organised from Udhampur to Wagah border via Samba, Panthankot and Amritsar in December last year, the release said, adding, a trekking expedition was also conducted in March.

The expedition was planned by Himachal Pradesh covering a distance of 70 km through wilderness including ascent/descent to 10,000 feet.

Today's event 'Run for Fun' was a fitting finale to the year-long celebrations. It was also meant to pay tribute to the grit, determination, spirit-de-corps and camaraderie of the Indian Air Force personnel.
