Stage set to host 14 events in city of pearls, two in Mumbai

Hyderabad, Oct 13 (UNI) Of the 14 events in the CISM Military World Games beginning here tomorrow, 12 will be held here while Mumbai would host two.

The events taking place here include Boxing, Diving, Football, Handball, Judo, Military Pentathlon, Parachuting, Shooting, Swimming, Track and Field, Volleyball and Wrestling.

Sailing and Triathlon events would be held in Mumbai.

Boxing would be held at the Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli. The bouts would be in 11 weight categories of Light Fly Weight (48kg), Fly Weight (51 kg), Bantom Weight (54 kg), Feather Weight (57kg), Light Weight (60 kg), Light Welter Weight (64 kg), Welter Weight (69 kg), Middle Weight (75 kg), Light Heavy Weight (81 kg), Heavy Weight (91 kg) and Super Heavy Weight (91+ kg).

The Judo events will be held at Artillery centre Indoor stadium at Golconda, in the weight categories of Individual Men's section 60 kg, 66 kg, 73 kg, 81 kg, 100 kg and above 100 kg, women's 48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 63 kg, 70kg, 78 kg and above 78 kg. The team events for men would be in 66kg, 73 kg,81kg, 90kg and above 90 kg categories and in the women's section 52 kg, 57kg, 63 kg,70 kg and above 70 kg.

Military Pentathlon will be held at Artillery center, Golconda and consisting of five military related disciplines of shooting, obstacle run, obstacle swimming, throwing and cross country.

Parachuting event will be held at Hakimpet Air force training centre.

It was decided to skip the style contest and to hold the accuracy and formation skydiving. Formation skydiving was upgraded from six to eight jumps.

While the 10 m, 25 m and 50 m shooting will take place at the SAAP shooting ranges, the 200 m shooting competition will be held at the newly built ranges at Artillery Centre. All the competitions will be held with the help of electronic scoring system.

Swimming, Diving and Water Polo competitions will be held at the aquatic complex at Gachibowli.

Wrestling, a populour sport in old city area, will be held at the new look Fateh Maidan indoor stadium which has been renovated for the Games. The weight categories for the competition in Greco Roman and Freestyle are 48kg, 54kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 76kg, 85kg, 97kg and 125 kgs.
