By Staff

Patiala, Oct 13 (UNI) Punjab took a crucial lead of 93 runs against Haryana on the second day of the North Zone Inter-State C K Nayadu cricket tournament (Under-22) here at the Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium.

Overnight 108 for three in 28 overs, Punjab went on to score 251 in 82 overs before being all out.

Uday Kaul (46) and Sumit Sharma (47) were associated in 58 runs partnership for the seventh wicket which eventually helped Punjab take the lead.

For Haryana, Sanjay Badhwar bowled exceedingly well to capture five wickets, conceding 70 runs. He was ably supported by J.Billa, who took 3 for 57.

In the second innings, Haryana were 96 for 3 in 34 overs with Ankit Rawat unbeaten on 37.

The Punjab bowlers were not penetrative enough and hardly posed any threat to the batsmen. S Kaul, S.S.Ladda and N.Gogia captured a wicket each.

The four-day tie is still open and much will depend on how the Haryana batsmen play on the penultimate day of the match.
