Mysore, Oct 13 (UNI) Noted writer Dr Chandkhar Kambara inaugurated a music festival here as part of the Dasara festivities in front of the illuminated Mysore Palace today.
More then 1,000 musicians and artistes from across the state would perform during the coming days at various venues.
Celebrated violinist Kunnkudi Vidhyanathan enthralled the audience. The Kannada and culture department organised Janapada Jahtrautsav, in which artistes performed Janapada dance.
Caparisoned elephants and fireworks added to the festivities.
Meanwhile, Dasara Howdah elephants Balarama and Gajendra ran amock for some time. However, they were brought under control.
A galaxy of Kannada film artistes participated in the programme.
Heritage walk, organised by the district administration, to facilitate viewing of heritage structures in the city, was flagged off.
